Youth Leadership Program Alumni Spotlight: Chanyse Dews

Chanyse Dews, a 2014 Youth Leadership Program & Suitland High School Graduate, has much to be proud of and thankful for this holiday season. The Prince George’s County native has had success on her mind since we welcomed her and her twin sister Chanel into our 3-year Youth Leadership Program when she was s sophomore in high school. Chanyse excelled in our program, leading an engaging program on health and fitness during her 3rd year as a college-bound high school senior. She graduated with honors and scholarships to support her transition to North Carolina Central University in the Fall of 2014.

Fast forward to 2022 and you’ll see that Chanyse has continued to excel and achieve success in everything she has sought to do. She graduated from North Carolina Central University, with honors, ahead of schedule. This year she graduated from The North Carolina Central University School of Law on May 7th and begin studying 8-10 hours a day for the North Carolina Bar Examination which she took in July. Of course, she passed it on her first attempt, declaring her eligible to practice law in the State of North Carolina. And, on October 28th, Chanyse Dews, Esq. was the only Black attorney sworn into the North Carolina Bar at the Durham County Courthouse. Attorney Dews is now a Trademark Attorney for IBM and among the 2% of all attorneys who are female and African American. She hopes her success inspires others to follow in her footsteps.

Her family has supported her every step of the way, and they couldn’t be prouder. The Training Source is family too, and we are #Prince George’s Proud of Chanyse. Congratulations on your track record of success and achievement. May God’s grace and mercy be with you all the days of your life!
