Posse Scholar Spotlight: Hillary De La Cruz

Our Posse Scholar from Charles Herbert Flowers High School will attend Bucknell University this Fall.

“This is amazing news and I couldn’t be more excited,” says Executive Director Kim Rhim. “I am so proud to be able to nominate bright, ambitious and talented youth to Posse. Hillary is our 4th Posse Scholar. What a feeling!”

Hillary has served in leadership roles at her school, while excelling academically, throughout her K-12 education. At school, she served as the President of the Class of 2023, Captain of the Varsity Lacrosse Team, Co-Secretary and Historian of the National Honor Society, Vice President of the National English Honor Society, an ESOL Advocate, a Diversity & Inclusion Task Group Director, Peer Leader Captain, and Member of the Varsity Soccer Team.

Her list of honors and achievements is too long to mention in this article, but includes recognition for outstanding academic performance, civic leadership, STEM program participation, mentoring, and a PSA Video on Immigration Rights. Hillary is also engaged in community leadership and enrichment programs, such as The Training Source’s Youth Leadership Program, COVID response and health clinic volunteer, and community clean-up activities.

Hillary knows that knowledge is power, so education is her #1 priority, maintaining an impressive 4.28 grade point average in addition to her activities, honors and awards. This girl is on fire!

“It is such an honor to represent the Youth Leadership Program, especially as the first female to receive a Posse Scholarship,” says Hillary. “I’m so excited for what the future holds and pray for so much! I’m forever grateful for the amazing opportunity you have given me! I really appreciate it.”

We are so proud of Hillary and pray for blessings and continued success in her future!
